Marquette County Fair Ice Cream
The Marquette County 4-H Council sells Jilbert's Ice Cream (YUM!) at the Marquette County Fair as a fundraiser to help provide many opportunities for local youth such as 4-H Exploration Days at MSU, 4-H Camps in the U.P., Teen and Volunteer Skill Building Workshops, even national programs in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia.
The Ice Cream Booth is located inside the 4-H Building at the Fairgrounds.
Selling ice cream for 4 days is a lot of work, but if all of the 4-H members of Marquette County pitch in a 2 hour block of time, we will have a very successful fundraiser.
We ask that anyone who has received a scholarship in the last 4-H year (like to Exploration Days or went to 4-H Camp) to please work a 2 hour shift. If you haven't yet received a scholarship, you likely will down the road. So to insure there is money to receive, we need your help, too. :)
Click here to see the Ice Cream Booth Sign up Schedule.
We ask that no more than 1 teen sign up for any time block. This way we don't have a booth full of teens in one block and then a booth full of younger members who don't quite have the skills to run the booth smoothly in the next block.
If a parent would like to assist their younger member, we welcome the extra set of adult hands.
To sign up for a shift, please look at the schedule and contact Liana Graves at deisenro@anr.msu.edu or 906-315-2663. Updates will be made daily.

2017 4-H Camp
You have all been anxiously awaiting it, and now it is here! The 2017 4-H Summer Camp will be held July 11-13 at Clear Lake Education Center, located in the Hiawatha National Forest. Campers (ages 9-13) will enjoy participating in a variety of fun, hands-on educational activities while at camp, including a high ropes challenge*, nature exploration, swimming, arts and crafts, drama, and lots of group activities. Youth do not have to be a current 4-H member to attend camp, but they will enroll in 4-H as part of their registration process.
Older youth (ages 14 and up) are needed to serve as Junior Counselors.
Youth serving in these positions will provide leadership (along with an Adult)
to a cabin of younger campers. Junior Counselors will need to attend a Counselor
Training the day before Camp begins (July 10th at 2:30 p.m. in Marquette County). Junior Counselors
will be given the opportunity to participate in high ropes after their group of
campers have gone through the course and for a $25 fee.
Adult MEN and Adult WOMEN (ages 20 or older) are needed to serve as Adult Counselors. Adults serving in these roles must complete the MSU Extension Volunteer
Selection Process before they are accepted as volunteers. Adults provide oversight
for a cabin of campers and youth counselors.
The Early Bird cost of 4-H Camp is $55 per youth already enrolled in 4-H ($65 for youth not yet enrolled in 4-H) and includes everything campers will need; daily meals, snacks, lodging, all program supplies, crafts, and instruction. This price goes up after June 1st to $75 for 4-H members and $85 for youth not yet enrolled. Youth Counselors and Adult Volunteers attend camp at no cost.
Space at camp is limited. Registration will be completed in the order that applications and payment are received. The final day to register a camper (space permitting) is June 23, 2017. Counselor and Adult registrations must be submitted no later than June 16, 2017.
For questions or more information, please contact Liana Graves at the MSU Extension Office. Call 906.475.5731or 906-315-2663 or email deisenro@anr.msu.edu.

Identification Portfolios
A Personal Data Sheet with a current photo will
be needed for each youth and adult participant. These sheets will help
county conference assistants (CCAs) and chaperones put names and faces
together, put all pertinent information in one place and assist with
identification and tracking if someone is missing. I encourage you to fill this information out now and submit it with your photo when you hand in your registration forms. You can have both the form and photo ready to hand in at the Orientation Meeting in June as well.
