4-H CrowdPower Campaign October 2020

Marquette County 4-H CrowdPower Site

Marquette County 4-H

4-H members in Marquette County have the opportunity to connect with their peers and volunteers through online programs, at home program kits, and future face-to-face hands-on experiences.

With your support we can expand access to those opportunities for young people in Marquette County.

Support the Marquette County 4-H program

Your contribution will provide many opportunities for our local youth. For example, purchasing updated educational curriculum and equipment supports 4-H Club Leaders and helps 4-H Youth continue learning from home. A donation of $25-$35 will pay for a full set of curriculum and $50 can cover equipment.

With 4-H not meeting in person right now, virtual programming needs are high. This includes supplies for kits to send to members. A donation of $75-$100 will pay for supplies and postage to send kits and activity instructions to 10 families.

Once 4-H is able to meet face-to-face, youth will also need program scholarships. One of the most popular programs is 4-H Exploration Days at MSU. A donation of $170 covers the balance one youth pays after the 4-H Council Scholarship to attend 4-H Exploration Days. Another very popular program is U.P. 4-H Camp. After the 4-H Council scholarship, families pay $45 per camper.

About Marquette County 4-H

We face unprecedented times. However, your support is still needed to help today’s youth become tomorrow’s leaders.

4-H is a youth development program of Michigan State University Extension located in Marquette County. 4-H Council President, Tess Jezek, is excited to grow the local program here in Marquette County. “CrowdPower is an easy way to give to our local youth. 4-H is all about helping as many young people as possible and funds raised will go directly to that cause by providing more scholarship dollars for those who really need them.”

2020 Upper Peninsula 4-H Camp

July 8 - 10, 2020
Clear Lake Education Center
8025 N. Clear Lake Rd., Manistique, MI 49854

4-H camp takes place at Clear Lake Education Center (8025N Clear Lake Rd. in Manistique, MI 49854) located on beautiful Clear Lake, nestled in a lush forest on M-94 just South of Shingleton, MI. There is a field where campers go to play games and team sports. Clear Lake also offers a scenic backdrop for canoeing as well as a beach for swimming.

4-H camp offers a chance for each camper to make new friendships and learn new skills. Every activity is well supervised and well planned. There is a full-time nurse on staff, keeping close check on the health needs of all the campers.

Campers are directed and supervised at all times by adult counselors who are assisted by teen junior counselors. Exploring and learning about the great outdoors are an important part of this program, with an emphasis on respecting each other and our environment. Building a healthier body, mind and spirit for campers is key in programming.

Activities include: low ropes/team building exercises, canoeing, swimming, outdoor field sport recreation, water and land challenges, arts and crafts, nature walks, astronomy, campfires, singing, drama skits, and much more!

Dining Hall
Well balanced, tasty meals and snacks are prepared and served by our fabulous cooks.

Living Groups
The cabins are well constructed and comfortable. The boys’ cabins are separated from the girls’ cabins- boys on the west side of camp and girls on the east side. One adult counselor and at least one junior counselor will be housed in each cabin with the youth so they are available if the campers need anything at any time.
