STEAM Corps and 4-H Tech Wizards Postion




Position Title: 4-H Tech Wizards Coordinator
Category: AmeriCorps Service Member

Stipend: $13,732 (pre-tax)
Education Award: $5,920 (pre-tax)
Position Type: Full-time, 1700 hours
Dates of Service: September 4, 2018- August 3, 2019

Role and Responsibility:
The Marquette County 4-H Tech Wizards Coordinator will be responsible for delivering the 4-H Tech Wizards small-group youth mentoring program to the area schools and community partners.
Tasks will include:
  • Matching 30 youth, in groups of three, to adult or peer mentors to meet regularly for a determined amount of time and work on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) projects together
  • Monitoring, documenting, and supporting those matches over the term of service
  • Recruiting, screening, and training 20 volunteers to serve as mentors, to provide guest programming, or to otherwise support 4-H Tech Wizards sites
  • Build relationships with school officials in order to recruit interested youth to the program
  • Conduc6ting interviews with youth participants and potential volunteers
  • Hosting quarterly family engagement nights
  • Collecting data and submitting reports to Site Supervisor and to the 4-H STEAM Corps Program Manager
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Pass the following checks: State of Michigan, DHHS Central Registry Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting, and State & National Sex Offender Registry
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with diverse (multiple ages, ethnicities, religions, etc.) populations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for science, technology, engineering, art and/or math (STEAM)
  • Knowledge of youth development, volunteer recruitment and management
  • Outgoing, confident, flexible, adaptable
Work Environment
The position required driving as a regular part of the position, carrying educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 pounds

Compensation
Members will receive a living allowance of $13,732 to be distributed bi-monthly at a rate of $624.18 (pre-tax) throughout their service term as well as student loan forbearance for qualified loans. Upon successful completion of service, an education award in the amount of $5,920 will be issued. Members will serve 40 hours/ week.
